Srinagar, Mar 12: Jumat-ul-Vida, the last Friday of the holy month of Ramzan, will be observed across Jammu and Kashmir on Friday, March 13, Grand Mufti Nasir-ul-Islam said in a video message.
In his video message, Grand Mufti explained that the Islamic calendar is based on the sighting of the moon, making it difficult to confirm at this stage whether Eid-ul-Fitr will fall on Friday, March 20, or Saturday, March 21. He added that after considering the lunar calendar and consulting other scholars, it has been decided that Jumat-ul-Vida will be observed tomorrow.
He further said that if the crescent moon of Shawwal is not sighted and Eid-ul-Fitr is not announced on March 20, that day will also be observed as Jumat-ul-Vida.
Grand Mufti Nasir-ul-Islam highlighted the significance of the day and urged devotees to observe prayers and spiritual practices with devotion.
Authorities and religious committees have been coordinating to ensure the smooth conduct of rituals and congregational prayers across the Union Territory.(KNC)
