Indian High Commission screens films as part of Singapore’s International Women’s Day observation

SINGAPORE, Mar 10 : The Indian High Commission in Singapore is joining the International Women’s Day observation with the screening of Alia Bhatt-Vicky Kaushal-starrer “Raazi” on March 15 as part of an extended annual Indian Film Festival.

Additional screening of Mani Ratnam’s “Roja” and Suriya-starrer “Soorarai Pottru” are also planned on April 5, 2026 at Festive Arts Theatre.

“On the occasion of International Women’s Day, an additional screening of the movie ‘Raazi’ is also being organised on 15 March 2026 at Golden Village, Suntec City as part of Indian Film Festival 2026. Additional screening of two movies – ‘Roja’ and ‘Soorarai Pottru’ are also planned to be screened on 05 April 2026 at Festive Arts Theatre, Our Tampines Hub,” said the High Commission in a statement on Tuesday.

As part of its annual promotion of cultural activities and people-to-people ties between India and Singapore, the High Commission holds film screening in the city state.

“Building on the success of Indian Film Festival (IFF) 2025, which marked the inaugural edition of the festival, High Commission of India in Singapore, in collaboration with Singapore Film Society, organised the Indian Film Festival 2026 from 23 January – 8 March 2026,” said the High Commission.

This year’s festival showcased a thoughtfully selected lineup of 21 films across eight Indian languages – Hindi, Tamil, Marathi, Manipuri, Gujarati, Odia, Assamese and Malayalam.

These movies ranged from timeless classics to popular blockbusters and acclaimed regional films.

On popular demand and overwhelming response of the audience, the High Commission organised additional screenings of 3 movies – “Boong”, “3 Idiots” and “Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge” at Festive Arts Theatre March 8. “Boong” recently won the BAFTA award.

“Today, the two countries enjoy a strong diplomatic, trade, cultural and people-to-people connect,” said a diplomatic observer, pointing out the importance of such developments between India-Singapore, the first of which began more than century ago with the founding the island as a colonial British outpost out of Calcutta.
