SRINAGAR, Mar 2: J&K Students Association (JKSA) today urged the Government of India to immediately relocate Indian students in Iran, including hundreds from J&K, to safer locations until a full-scale evacuation operation is launched.
In a statement, the Association sought the intervention of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, citing the deteriorating security situation in Iran following repeated airstrikes and escalating hostilities.
“Facilitate the relocation of Indian students, particularly those from the Union Territory, to safer locations until a comprehensive evacuation operation begins,” the Association said, expressing concern over the safety of students stranded in conflict-affected areas.
JKSA National Convenor Nasir Khuehami said the ongoing airstrikes have triggered widespread panic among students, many of whom have reported fear, uncertainty and severe distress.
He added that parents in J&K are deeply anxious about their children’s safety amid the rapidly worsening situation.
The Association noted that several colleges and universities in affected areas have advised students to vacate campuses as a precautionary measure.
However, airspace disruptions, restricted movement and growing instability have made it increasingly difficult for students to secure safe passage or make alternative travel arrangements.
JKSA urged the Centre to take immediate and proactive measures in coordination with the Ministry of External Affairs and the Indian Embassy in Tehran to shift students to safer zones until a formal evacuation is undertaken.
Meanwhile, in Srinagar, several parents appealed to the Government of India to ensure the safe return of their children studying in war-hit Iran.
They urged authorities to initiate immediate evacuation from Tehran and other affected regions.
Parents said many students are currently pursuing studies in Tehran, which has witnessed repeated strikes amid escalating tensions.
Expressing deep concern, they appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and J&K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to intervene and facilitate their evacuation.
