JAMMU, Feb 27: President of the National Mazdoor Conference (NMC), Subash Shastri today appealed to the 8th Central Pay Commission to recommend key relief measures for government employees and pensioners across the country.
In separate memorandums addressed to the Chairman of the 8th Pay Commission Justice Rajana Prakash Desai, Officer Member Secretary Pankaj Jain and Part-Time Member Pulak Ghosh, Shastri urged that the Commission, in its upcoming meeting, recommend to the Central Government the merger of 50 percent Dearness Allowance (DA) with basic pay.
He further demanded the release of 18 months’ pending DA installments arrears and payment of 20 percent interim relief in favour of both Central as well as all State Government employees and pensioners until the Commission submits its final report.
Highlighting the growing burden of inflation, Shastri stated that rising prices of essential commodities have severely impacted government employees and pensioners.
“The soaring cost of day-to-day goods has made it difficult for employees and pensioners to manage even their basic needs,” he said, adding that timely financial relief is necessary to safeguard their interests.
The NMC President also urged the 8th Central Pay Commission to commence visits to all States and Union Territories to hold consultations with stakeholders before finalizing its recommendations.
Shastri stressed that the recommendations of the 8th Central Pay Commission should be implemented simultaneously for both Central and State Government employees and pensioners to avoid anomalies.
