JAMMU, Feb 21: Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Kavinder Gupta, today said that India’s youth will play a decisive role in shaping the nation’s destiny and in realizing the vision of a developed India by 2047, urging students to channel their energy, innovation and commitment towards nation-building.
Addressing the annual convocation of Government College Gurdaspur, the LG awarded degrees to 247 students and conferred the Roll of Honour on five meritorious students. He said the goal of “Viksit Bharat 2047” can be achieved only through active youth participation in governance, entrepreneurship, research and community development.
Terming the occasion emotionally significant, Kavinder Gupta recalled his days as a student of the same institution and said his journey from the classroom to the office of the Lieutenant Governor was shaped by the blessings of his teachers, the values imparted by his parents and the discipline of the college.
Sharing his administrative experience, he highlighted the rapid expansion of higher education and research infrastructure in Ladakh, particularly at the University of Ladakh, and spoke about his interactions with students of IIM Jammu and IIT Jammu, praising their innovative outlook.
Referring to his participation in the India AI Impact Summit, he underlined the transformative potential of Artificial Intelligence in healthcare, education, agriculture and governance, while stressing that technology must remain guided by ethical values and inclusivity. He urged graduates to acquire emerging technological skills and use AI responsibly for sustainable and socially relevant solutions.
Later, he was conferred with the Shri Laxmi Chander Vishist Sewa Rattan Award for distinguished public service.
Earlier, the Annual Report (2025–26) was presented. Raman Bahl, Dr Sandeep Sharma, Professor Raj Kumar Sharma, Professor GS Kalsi, Om Prakash, VK Maudgil, Kamal Kishore Atri, VK Singh, Professor JS Grover, Professor Seema Mahajan and Principal Ashwani Kumar Bhalla were present.
