DODA, Feb 16: In a major enforcement drive to curb traffic violations and check the illegal operation of e-rickshaws, Doda Police in coordination with the Traffic Police conducted a comprehensive crackdown across various parts of Doda town to ensure public safety and road discipline.
The special drive was carried out on the directions of SSP Doda Sandeep Mehta and was led by the SHO Police Station Doda along with officers and officials of the Traffic Wing under the supervision of Deputy SP Traffic Doda.
During the operation, more than 50 violators were booked for various offences, including overloading, operating vehicles without valid documents, violation of route permits and non-compliance with prescribed safety norms. Several e-rickshaws were also seized under relevant provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act.
Police said the drive was aimed at ensuring smooth traffic flow, preventing road accidents, safeguarding commuters and pedestrians and enforcing strict adherence to traffic regulations. Special emphasis was laid on checking the unauthorized and unsafe operation of e-rickshaws, which often leads to traffic congestion and poses a serious risk to public safety.
SSP Doda Sandeep Mehta reiterated that such drives will continue in the future as well and warned that strict legal action will be taken against violators.
