JAMMU, Feb 16: The first edition of the Fingerprint Bureau’s magazine of Jammu and Kashmir Police was released today by IGP Crime Sujit Kumar Singh at Crime Branch Headquarters Jammu.
The publication contains Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and guidelines for investigating officers to strengthen scientific investigation and improve conviction rates in line with Ministry of Home Affairs guidelines.
The function was organised under the supervision of SSP Fingerprint Bureau Mohammad Yousuf and was attended by the Director Prosecution and senior officers of the Crime Branch.
The magazine provides detailed SOPs on chance fingerprint lifting, submission of records to the National Automated Fingerprint Identification System (NAFIS), and use of the Crime and Criminal Tracking Network systems including the Measurement Collection Unit developed by the National Crime Records Bureau.
Addressing the officers, the IGP stressed strict adherence to SOPs related to NAFIS and fingerprint operations to ensure accuracy, transparency and efficiency in investigations.
Jammu and Kashmir Police reiterated its commitment to modernization and adoption of technology-driven investigation methods to enhance crime detection and inter-state tracking.
