Theft case solved, thief held

SAMBA, Feb 16: Samba police has solved a theft case of gold ornaments registered at Police Station (PS) Ghagwal, one accused has been arrested and approximately 10 grams of stolen gold items worth Rs. 1,60,000 have been recovered from his possession.
A police spokesman said on the intervening night of 27/28.01.2026, a complaint was received via WhatsApp on the official mobile number of Police Station (PS) Ghagwal from advocate, Dharamvir, son of Tulsi Das of Harsath tehsil Ghagwal district Samba, regarding the theft of Gold ornaments from a Kali Mata temple situated inside his residence. The stolen items included a Gold Tikka, Gold Nath, Gold Chain and Gold Locket.
Acting upon the complaint, a case FIR No. 12/2026 U/S 331(4), 305 BNS was registered at Police Station Ghagwal and investigation started, spokesman said.
He said during the course of investigation, a police team of PS Ghagwal after relentless efforts has apprehended one suspect who upon sustained questioning confessed his involvement in the instant case. The arrested person has been identified as Jatin Kumar, son of Bharladh Bhagat of Ghagwal district Samba. All the stolen Gold ornaments weighing approximately 10 grams recovered and seized by the police.
Further investigation is going on, police said.
