JAMMU, Feb 14: Senior Jammu & Kashmir National Conference leader Rajesh Gupta today expressed deep concern over a “prolonged democratic vacuum” in the Union Territory. He pointed out that more than a year after reorganisation, J&K continues to operate without a fully empowered, accountable and elected Government functioning under clearly notified business rules.
Gupta said the absence of defined powers and responsibilities for ministers, departments and legislators has left administrative machinery directionless. Files are delayed, policy decisions remain pending and procedural ambiguities are affecting governance at all levels.
He also highlighted growing public discontent over the unresolved issue of Statehood restoration. Gupta emphasized that repeated appeals from civil society, political bodies, trade associations and citizens have yet to yield tangible progress, eroding confidence among the masses.
