JAMMU, Feb 13: MIER College of Education hosted its grand alumni meet, here today. The event attracted nearly 150 alumni.
The theme of the alumni meet was “Reconnect, Revive and Rejoice”. The formal proceedings were led by Dr Palvi Mangotra and Kajal Badyal, Assistant Professors at SSSH, MIER College of Education, who warmly welcomed the alumni and guests. Present on the occasion were Dr Renu Gupta, Chairperson of MIER College of Education, Rupa Gupta, Joint Director and all faculty members.
Prof Adit Gupta, Director and Principal of MIER College of Education, in his speech, recognized the invaluable contributions of the alumni across various fields and highlighted that they are the true ambassadors of the Institution. He emphasized that their successes in education, leadership, public service, and social development not only bring honour to the college but also play a crucial role in advancing its vision, mission and lasting legacy.
On the occasion, distinguished alumni were honoured for their exceptional professional achievements and societal contributions. The award recipients included Dr Bhawan Sharma, Principal of Government Senior Secondary School, Dari, Dharamshala; Dr Sarita Sood, Senior Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychology at the University of Jammu; Abha Chaudhary, Image Coach, Life Coach, and Emotional Intelligence & Relationship Coach, Chandigarh; Advocate Rekha Mahajan, vice president of Bharatiya Janta Party, J&K; Ruchika Gupta, Joint Director of MIER and past chair of FICCI FLO JKL; Neha Kalra, working in Inclusive Education at Samagra Shiksha, Jammu; Dr Behzad Maqbool, Director of the Composite Research Centre, Srinagar; Mukesh Sharma, Director and Principal of Bright Life School, Jodhpur; and Dr Alka Sharma, an educationist, social activist, media person and state anchor.
The event also included an engaging interaction session with distinguished alumni, who shared reflections on their professional journeys and cherished memories of their time at MIER.
The alumni games segment further fostered camaraderie by recognizing the first alumnus to register, the oldest alumnus, the alumni couple, and those from the farthest locations, among others.
