Like other newly sanctioned colleges of the State the Government Degree College Basohli has been functioning in the newly constructed building since 2005. Obviously, every new institute experiences a number of problems pertaining to infra-structure, teaching faculty, establishment, libraries, laboratories and other allied amenities required for the students of the colleges. All the colleges, except GDC Basohli, which started their journey together scaled the new heights one after the other, but as the ill luck would have it the GDC Basohli, instead of achieving the minimum standard, has been receding year after year and has ultimately been reduced to the standard of a high school. The newly constructed college building is constructed at a place which is always prone to land slides.
The newly college complex is giving way as a result of the substandard material used in the construction. The layers of wall plaster have started falling, the doors of the rooms are eaten by the white ants, the glasses of the windows are broken, the repair and renovation of the complex is awaited till date. Due to the non-availability of playground, sports teacher, games and sports material the students of GDC Basohli are deprived of the opportunities of participating in mural and intra mural completions like their counterparts in other GDC’s in the State. Moreover there is neither any boundary wall around the building nor any plantation inside the complex. The stray animals of the village graze over the little grass grown inside the complex.
Moreover, there are no career oriented subjects being taught in the college which compels the students to seek admission in other colleges of the State. It is requested to help improve the present condition of GDC Basohli by providing it all those facilities and equipment which are urgently required for any degree college to come up to the aspirations of the students. Moreover the job oriented subjects be introduced in GDC Basohli so that the students falling within the catchment area of the college are not compelled to seek admission in other colleges of the State.
