Counter Intelligence Jammu arrests long-absconding FICN accused

JAMMU, Feb 9: Counter Intelligence Jammu of CID has arrested a long-absconding accused in a Fake Indian Currency Notes (FICN) case during a targeted operation in the Domana area of Jammu.
The accused, identified as Hilal Ahmed Bhat of Poshpora, Kupwara, presently residing at Bhagani Talab Mohalla, Raipur Domana, was arrested after the execution of an absconder warrant issued by the Court of Principal Sessions Judge, Jammu, under Section 512 CrPC.
The warrant had also been issued against his father, Mohammad Assad Ullah Bhat.
According to officials, the accused was wanted in an FICN case registered as FIR No. 05/2007 under Sections 489A, 489B and 489C of RPC at Police Station CID (Counter Intelligence), Jammu.
“Both accused had been absconding for over 10 years and had deliberately evaded the legal process during the trial proceedings,” they said.
Acting on specific and credible inputs, a fugitive tracking team of CID Counter Intelligence Jammu carried out a swift and coordinated operation, leading to the arrest of Hilal Ahmed Bhat today, they said.
After his arrest, he was produced before the competent court, which remanded him to judicial custody.
