SRINAGAR, Feb 7: Senior BJP leader Ashok Koul today said Pakistan is facing the consequences of its own policies, asserting that the country is now reaping what it had sown over the years.
Speaking to reporters in Anantnag while reacting to the suicide attack inside a mosque in Islamabad that left dozens, dead Koul said such incidents deeply hurt people and naturally provoke public outrage.
“When innocent people are killed, it hurts. Our people were pained by the incident and came out to protest,” he said. Click here to watch video
He noted that Pakistan had “dug pits for others”, particularly India, and today it is “itself falling into those pits.”
“What happened in Afghanistan, the rise of the Taliban, and the situation in Balochistan are all consequences of its own actions. Now, it is coming back to haunt them,” he said.
Koul said Pakistan was hoping for relief from the United States, but that support had now diminished.
“The US has reduced tariffs to 18 per cent for India and is now choosing its friends carefully,” he added.
He urged the Pakistan Government to “mend its ways”, adopt the right conduct, and move forward in a normal and peaceful manner.
Referring to the political situation in J&K, Koul claimed that people were increasingly showing faith in the BJP.
“People have started loving the BJP and feel that the party will address their issues. We secured around 3,000 votes in Budgam, and at other places too, we are moving ahead with the slogan of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas’,” he said.
He further said that the Union Territory has witnessed peace since 2019.
“There is no terrorism, no new recruitment, and people are living in a peaceful and secure environment. People are no longer apprehensive about their safety, and this positive change is being embraced by the people of Kashmir,” Koul said.
