JAMMU, Feb 6: Community college in collaboration with School of Business Studies, Central University of Jammu, organized an expert lecture on “Skill Ecosystem for Viksit Bharat 2047” with the objective of deliberating on India’s long-term national vision of becoming a developed, inclusive, and skill-driven economy by the year 2047.
Under the guidance of Prof Sanjeev Jain, Vice Chancellor, the programme commenced with welcome address by Dr Naresh Kumar, Principal, Community College. He emphasized the crucial role of skill-based education, vocational training, and industry-linked programmes in enhancing youth employability and supporting national development goals.
Setting the academic context of the programme, Prof Jaya Bhasin highlighted the significance of aligning higher education with evolving skill requirements, entrepreneurship, and lifelong learning to strengthen India’s human capital.
The keynote address was delivered by Chand Kishore, Joint Director, Jammu & Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute (JKEDI). He elaborated on the Viksit Bharat 2047 vision, focusing on emerging opportunities, entrepreneurship-led growth, and the strategic role of Jammu & Kashmir in contributing to the national skill ecosystem. He underlined the importance of innovation, startups, MSME development, and institutional support in empowering youth and encouraging self-reliance.
Prof Neelika Arora, Dean, School of Business Studies, in her address stressed the need for integrating management education with practical skills, industry engagement, and policy relevance to prepare future-ready professionals.
Prof N S Gupta, a distinguished academician of the country and thought leader, in his expert lecture, provided a multidisciplinary perspective on skill development, linking it with management education, commerce, international relations, critical minerals, experiential learning, and global competitiveness. He emphasized that continuous learning, hands-on experience, and skill adaptability are essential for individuals to thrive in a rapidly changing global economy.
The stage proceedings and overall conduct of the programme were effectively coordinated by Dr Prinka Dogra, Community College. The programme concluded with a formal vote of thanks by Dr Vinay Kumar, HOD, Department of Marketing and SCM.
