SRINAGAR, Feb 3: Police in Anantnag today arrested a drug peddler and recovered Bung boosa from his possession.
According to authorities, a police party from Police Station Pahalgam, deployed at a checkpoint established at Kullar Hirpora, intercepted a suspicious individual.
During the search, 5.120 kilograms of Bung boosa-like substance concealed in a bag was recovered, police said.
He has been identified as Basit Iqbal, son of Mohammad Iqbal Shah, a resident of Hirpora. He has been arrested and shifted to the police station, where he remains in custody.
Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 5/2026 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Pahalgam, and further investigation has been initiated.
