Five-day training programmes on women safety, cyber crime inaugurated at SKPA

UDHAMPUR, Feb 3: Two five-day training programmes-one on “Women Safety” and another on “Investigation of Cyber Crime”-were inaugurated today at Sher-i-Kashmir Police Academy (SKPA), Udhampur.
The programme on women safety is sponsored by the Bureau of Police Research and Development (BPR&D), New Delhi, while the cyber crime course is sponsored by the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C), New Delhi.
A total of 46 officers of Jammu and Kashmir Police, along with one DySP from Nagaland Police and one Inspector from Telangana Police, are participating in the courses.
The aim is to strengthen professional skills, legal understanding and investigative techniques to deal effectively with crimes related to women safety and cyber offences.
An inaugural function was held in which ADGP Garib Dass, Director SKPA, attended as the chief guest and formally inaugurated the programmes.
In his address, he stressed the growing need for specialised training in the investigation of crimes against women and cyber crimes, underlining the importance of professionalism, sensitivity and the use of modern investigative tools.
He said such training would help officers handle emerging and sensitive crimes in a more effective and professional manner.
The courses will include lectures, case studies and practical sessions over the next five days, conducted by subject experts.
Senior faculty members of SKPA were also present on the occasion.
The women safety course is being coordinated by Chander Lekha, Senior Prosecuting Officer, assisted by Woman Head Constable Melisha Devi, while the cyber crime course is being coordinated by Inspector Vivek Kalsotra, assisted by Head Constable Randip Singh.
