JAMMU, Feb 2: Workers of Hindustan Pencils Pvt Ltd, Akhnoor Road, Talab Tillo, here today, assembled at factory gate and staged a protest demonstration.
The protest was led by Harbans Choudhary, senior Bhartiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS) leader who said that after a recent fire incident at the factory, the management is not allowing some 90-95 workers to render their services in the factory.
He also said that more than 150 workers who were working in the factory through labour supplier contractors were not informed whether they are on lay-off or without pay.
The BMS leader demanded that all the regular and engaged workers through labour suppliers should be taken back on duty or treated on duty with full pay and contract workers should be given lay off wages till the factory reopen otherwise the matter will be taken to the trade union.
He also appealed to the Labour Commissioner to take a strict note of the issue so that the poor workers are not exploited.
Ashok Choudhary, organizing secretary BMS, Harnam Singh, president Hindustan Pencil Workers Union and others were also present in the protest.
