Srinagar, Jan 30: National Innovations Public School (NIPS), Zainapora, has brought pride to the district by winning second prize at the Union Territory-level “Idea to Impact: Annual Startup Mela 2026.”
The prize-winning team – Mantasha Nazir, Eliza Bhat, Hurain Farooq, and Pakeeza Hilal – represented NIPS with distinction in the Startup Idea Challenge.
Their innovative project, “Cotton Comfort,” impressed the jury for its sustainability, social relevance, and practical applicability, standing out among numerous entries from across Jammu and Kashmir.
In recognition of their achievement, the students received a cash prize of Rs 70,000, presented by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, who praised their innovation, vision, and entrepreneurial spirit.
The summit was held at the prestigious JKEDI Campus in Bari Brahmana, Samba.
The accomplishment highlights NIPS’s commitment to fostering creativity, innovation, and practical learning.
Known for encouraging entrepreneurial thinking, the school consistently empowers its students to excel at high-level platforms across the Union Territory.
This success was achieved under the guidance of Principal Lateef Bhat, along with Chief Coordinator Shahid Manzoor and Misbah, who played a crucial role in mentoring the students, refining their ideas, and preparing them for the competition.
Officials from JKEDI District Centre, Shopian, and the district administration also acknowledged the achievement, noting that it reflects the impact of continuous innovation programs, mentorship initiatives, workshops, and startup boot camps designed to nurture entrepreneurship among students.
