JAMMU, Jan 30: A fire broke out in the office of the District Mineral Officer (DMO) Jammu at New Plot area here today, causing damage to office property. No casualties were reported in the incident.

Officials said the fire likely erupted due to a short circuit at the time when staff members of the DMO office were away for lunch.
They said the staff initially attempted to douse the flames on their own but later informed the Fire and Emergency Department.
On receiving the information, fire tenders were rushed to the spot and the blaze was brought under control.
According to officials, some office files, furniture and other items, including computers and printers, were either partially or completely damaged in the fire.
Meanwhile, police have initiated an investigation to ascertain the exact cause of the incident.
