UDHAMPUR/JAMMU, Jan 30: Sher-I-Kashmir Police Academy (SKPA), Udhampur and SDRF 2nd Battalion, Headquarters Gandhi Nagar, Jammu today solemnly observed Martyrs Day by paying homage to the brave souls who laid down their lives for the nation.
At SKPA Udhampur, the observance was held under the overall supervision of Garib Dass, ADGP, Director SKPA.
All officers, staff and trainees assembled at the Roll Call Ground at 1050 hrs. At 1100 hours, a two-minute silence was observed in remembrance of the martyrs of India’s freedom struggle.
After the observance, the gathering was briefed on the historical and national significance of Martyrs Day, highlighting the values of patriotism, sacrifice and devotion to the country.
Tributes were paid to freedom fighters who played a pivotal role in India’s struggle for Independence, and the occasion served as a reminder of their supreme sacrifices for the nation’s freedom and sovereignty.
Meanwhile, at SDRF 2nd Battalion Headquarters, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu, a similar two-minute silence was observed at 1100 hrs on the occasion of Martyrs Day.
All officers and officials of the battalion participated in the observance and paid respectful tribute to the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the freedom of the country.
The event reaffirmed the commitment of SDRF personnel to uphold the ideals of national service, resilience and selfless duty, which continue to guide the force in disaster response and public service.
Martyrs Day is observed annually on January 30 to honour the courage and sacrifice of India’s freedom fighters and to remember their enduring contribution to the nation.
