JAMMU, Jan 29: The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Jammu today organised a blood donation camp titled “Aasha – Thalassemia Support Blood Drive” at its Jagti Campus, recording a highest-ever participation of 102 blood donors.
The camp was organised in collaboration with the J&K Thalassemia Welfare Society and Government Medical College Jammu, with support from the institute’s medical team.
The blood donation camp was inaugurated by Prof Jabir Ali, Dean Faculty and Research, IIM Jammu, in the presence of Dr Ashish Kumar, Chairperson, Student Affairs, and Cmdr Kesavan Baskkaran, Chief Administrative Officer.
Representatives from J&K Thalassemia Welfare Society, including Sudhir Sethi, and a medical team from GMC Jammu led by Dr Rubina were also present.
Faculty members, officers, staff and students participated in large numbers, reflecting strong community involvement.
Besides collecting blood from 102 donors, the camp also focused on spreading awareness about the importance of voluntary blood donation, especially for patients suffering from thalassemia and other serious medical conditions. The collected blood units will help meet the needs of patients across the region.
The event was coordinated by the Student Affairs Office and Kartavya Club at Sanjeevani Medical Centre, IIM Jammu.
