National Voters Day celebrated with great fervour

JANUARY, Jan 25: Different organisations here today celebrated the 16th National Voters Day (NVD) with great fervour under the theme ‘My India, My Vote.’
On National Voters Day, BJYM J&K under the leadership of its president, Arun Prabhat, organized an inspirational programme in Jammu. Ashok Koul, BJP J&K general secretary (organization), was chief guest on this occasion and he emphasised the historic role of youth in safeguarding and strengthening India’s democratic ethos. Referring to PM’s message, Koul said that voting is a sacred constitutional right and a moral responsibility, symbolized by the inked finger which represents honour, participation and commitment to the nation. Arun Prabhat encouraged the youth to actively exercise their franchise, asserting that voting is not merely a constitutional right but also a sacred civic duty that strengthens democratic institutions.
Government Degree College (GDC) Dudu Basantgarh celebrated the 16th NVD with great enthusiasm. The event was organized under the guidance of the GDC Principal, Dr. Sushma Chib. Dr. Kuldeep Singh, Assistant Professor (English), delivered a thought-provoking lecture highlighting the significance of National Voters Day.
The Systematic Voters Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) Cell of Government College for Women Udhampur celebrated NVD and organised a pledge ceremony on the theme ‘My India, My Vote’ to make the citizens aware about the importance of their right to vote. Principal of the College, Dr. Nalini Pathania educated the students on importance of voting. Co-ordinator SVEEP Cell, Prof. Swarna Devi also spoke on the occasion.
To celebrate the 16th National Voters Day, Keshav Chopra, chairman, Samvedna Society along with Booth Level Officer, Poonam Gupta led a special initiative to distribute Electors Photo Identity Cards (EPIC) among local residents and first-time voters. Chopra said that the Voter ID Card is not merely a piece of identification but a badge of empowerment and a sacred responsibility.
Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor, LAHDC Kargil, Dr. Mohd Jaffer Akhoon, today attended National Voters Day function as chief guest at Ice Hockey Rink, Bemathang. Addressing the gathering, he stated that India, the mother of democracy, derives its greatest strength from its democratic values, where power truly rests with the people. Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner, Kargil urged the first-time voters to get themselves registered in the electoral rolls and contribute towards making the voter list more inclusive and representative.
The 16th NVD was observed at Zanskar Sub-Division in a programme organised by the Assistant Electoral Registration Officer, Zanskar where the Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Zanskar, Omkar Ranjinder Gundage was chief guest. Addressing the gathering, Gundage highlighted the importance of voting and encouraged the citizens to actively take part in the democratic process.
