JAMMU, Jan 24: A 50-year-old electrician lost his life after suffering an electric shock while working at Shastri Nagar today.
The deceased has been identified as Yash Pal Chand, son of Omkar Chand and a resident of Bari Brahmana in Samba district. He was reportedly engaged in lighting work near the Khadi office at Sanjay Nagar Chowk when the mishap occurred.
Following the incident, Chand was rushed to Gandhinagar Hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead. His body was later shifted to the mortuary of Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Jammu, where after post-mortem examination, it was handed over to its legal heirs for last rites.
Meanwhile, legal formalities have been initiated and the matter is being looked into by the concerned authorities to ascertain the exact circumstances leading to the fatal incident.
