Dr Pavan honoured with MPS Most Promising Sr MD Pharma Award

JAMMU, Jan 22: The Medical Pharmacology Society (MPS) of India has announced that Dr Pavan Malhotra, Director-Principal and Professor of Pharmacology at ASCOMS & Hospital, has been selected for the prestigious “MPS Most Promising Senior MD Pharmacologist Award for 2026.”
The honour was unanimously recommended by the Scientific Committee of MPS in recognition of his outstanding contributions to pharmacological research, medical education and clinical leadership. Dr Malhotra’s selection highlights his standing as a leading academic voice in Indian medical pharmacology and his role in promoting rational drug use and evidence-based therapeutics.
As part of the honour, Dr Malhotra has been invited to deliver a featured academic session at the MPS National Convention (MPSCON 2026), scheduled to be held in May 2026 at the CDSIMER campus, Bengaluru, under the theme “Pharmacology 4.0: Smart Drugs, Smart Data, Smart Decisions.” His session will form a key component of the convention’s scientific programme.
Dr N Shiva Murthy, National president of MPS, said the recognition reflects the society’s commitment to honouring scholars who successfully bridge academic excellence with clinical application.
An alumnus of GMC Jammu, Dr Malhotra holds fellowships from the Royal College of Physicians, Glasgow and Edinburgh, and is the first medical professional from Jammu & Kashmir to earn dual FRCPs. A globally recognized academician with nearly three decades of experience, he is also the author of the Manual of Practical Pharmacology, International Advisor to the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow, and president of IMA Jammu branch.
