Sanjeev Khirwar Appointed New Commissioner Of Delhi Municipal Corporation

JAMMU, Jan 22: Senior IAS officer Sanjeev Khirwar has been appointed as the new Commissioner of the Delhi Municipal Corporation (DMC).
The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has issued a notification in this regard, stating that the appointment will take effect immediately and will remain in force until further orders.
In a letter addressed to the Secretary to the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi, MHA Director Anish Murlidharan conveyed that the competent authority has approved the appointment of Sanjeev Khirwar as Commissioner of the Delhi Municipal Corporation with immediate effect.
Khirwar is a 1994-batch IAS officer of the AGMUT cadre and brings with him extensive administrative experience.
He has served in several regions including Delhi, Chandigarh, Arunachal Pradesh, Goa, and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
He recently returned to Delhi in January 2026 after serving in Ladakh, where he was posted following his transfer in 2022 in the wake of a controversy related to walking his dog at the Tyagaraj Stadium in Delhi.
