JAMMU, Jan 21: Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Jammu, Ansuya Jamwal, today undertook an on-site visit to Nikki Tawi Bridge and Government High School, Suray Chak, to assess the damages caused by the devastating floods that struck the area in August last year.
During the visit, the ADC closely inspected the severely damaged approach road of Nikki Tawi Bridge and the flood-affected infrastructure of Government High School, Suray Chak, both of which continue to remain vulnerable months after the natural calamity.
Taking a detailed review of the ground situation, she interacted with local residents and volunteers of Tawi Welfare Society, who facilitated her visit, and assured them that the district administration would initiate the required repair and restoration works at these critical and vulnerable points at the earliest to prevent further deterioration and ensure public safety.
On the occasion, Tawi Welfare Society organized a ration distribution camp at Apnavan, Suray Chak. As many as 100 ration kits were distributed among needy and underprivileged families of the area. The ADC also distributed warm shawls to women beneficiaries, which she had personally brought along for the purpose.
The members of Tawi Welfare Society also submitted a formal request letter, addressed to the District Development Commissioner, Jammu, to the ADC. The memorandum highlighted urgent demands, including the immediate construction of a compound wall for Government High School, Suray Chak, repair of the damaged approach road leading to the school, and restoration of the flood-damaged approach of Nikki Tawi Bridge.
