JAMMU, Jan 20: The Jammu and Kashmir Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has arrested 4 officials, including 2 employees of the Public Works Department (PWD), an Assistant Sub-Inspector of Police and a Patwari, in 3 separate trap cases for allegedly demanding and accepting bribes.

As per an ACB official, one case was registered at Police Station ACB Udhampur, while 2 cases were registered at Police Station ACB Rajouri.
In the Udhampur case, he said, the ACB received a complaint alleging demand of bribe from Anil Jamwal, Junior Engineer posted in the office of Superintendent Engineer PWD (R&B) Udhampur and Jeet Kumar, Computer Operator posted in the office of Executive Engineer PWD (R&B) Udhampur, for issuance of a contractor card.
He said after discreet verification confirming the demand, FIR number 02/2026 under Section 07 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 and Section 61(2) BNS, 2023 was registered at Police Station ACB Udhampur.
During a trap operation led by a DySP ranked officer, he said, the blamed officials were caught red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 12,000 from the complainant.
He said the bribe amount was recovered in the presence of independent witnesses, and searches were conducted at 2 locations in Udhampur.
In another case registered at Police Station ACB Rajouri, the ACB official said, a police official (ASI) Zamurat Manhas was accused of demanding bribe to settle a complaint regarding non-payment of dues to one Abdul Qayoom and threatening action under the PSA. Click here to watch video
Following verification, FIR number 01/2026 was registered and a trap was laid, the ACB official said, adding that accordingly, the accused was caught red-handed while accepting Rs 5,000 as bribe and was arrested on the spot.
Searches were later conducted at his residential premises in Mendhar, Surankote and Jammu, he said.
In the third case, also registered at Police Station ACB Rajouri, he said, a Patwari Mohammad Razaq, posted at Patwar Halqa Sokar/Prori, Koteranka, was accused of demanding bribe for recording the names of the complainant’s daughters in revenue records.
He said after registration of FIR number 02/2026, a trap was laid and the Patwari was caught red-handed while accepting Rs 10,000 as bribe.
“He was arrested on the spot and searches were conducted at his residence as well,” added the ACB official.
According to him, further investigation in all the three cases is in progress.
