SDRF Jammu celebrates 14th Raising Day at Gulshan Ground

JAMMU, Jan 19: The 14th Annual Raising Day of the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) Jammu was celebrated today at the headquarters of the Second Battalion at Gulshan Ground, Jammu.
Director General of Police and Commandant General, HG/CD & SDRF J&K, A G Mir was the chief guest on the occasion.
He congratulated all officers and personnel of SDRF J&K and appreciated their dedicated service, particularly their role in saving lives during disasters over the past one year.
Addressing the gathering, the DGP said SDRF had carried out extraordinary rescue operations in disaster-hit areas and played a crucial role in protecting human lives, calling it one of the most important humanitarian services.
DySP Lalit Kumar welcomed the Chief Guest and other officers from the civil administration and thanked them for attending the function.
Commandant SDRF 2nd Battalion, Zahid Naseem Manhas highlighted the achievements of the battalion during the year 2025.
He detailed the rescue and relief operations carried out during the massive cloudburst at village Chashoti in Kishtwar district and the flash floods that affected residential areas of the Jammu region in August 2025.
He also shared future plans aimed at strengthening preparedness and improving response during emergencies.
A live demonstration, display of high-value equipment and a photo gallery were also showcased and were appreciated by the chief guest.
Senior officers including DIG HG/CD & SDRF Jammu Mohammad Arshad, DIG Director HG Kashmir Ramesh Kumar Angral and other gazetted officers were present.
Several civil administration officers, including ADC Jammu, Ansuya Jamwal, ADC Kathua Vishavjeet Singh, then SDM Marh Athar Amin Zargar, ADC Udhampur Prem Singh Chib, Principal Boys Higher Secondary School Rajouri Mohammad Muslim Wani, Chief Warden and Deputy Chief Warden Civil Defence Jammu were honoured with mementos and commendation certificates for their support during disasters in 2025.
Five SDRF personnel were also awarded commendation certificates for their outstanding performance.
