39 cases registered against house, land owners

SAMBA, Jan 16: Continuing its drive against illegal mining, Samba police has seized four vehicle including three dumpers in the jurisdiction of Police Stations (PS) Samba, Purmandal and Ghagwal which were being used for illegal transportation/mining of the construction material.
A police spokesman said its teams headed by SHO PS Ghagwal, SHO PS, Purmandal, in charge Police Posts Supwal of PS, Samba and in charge Police Post, Rajpura of PS, Ghagwal while performing patrolling duty in their jurisdictional areas have seized three dumpers bearing Registration Numbers JK21J-5799, JK21A-8872, JK21H-7879 and a tractor trolley bearing Registration Number, JK21J-3663 which were being used for illegal transportation/mining of the construction material in the area.
All the vehicles have been seized by Samba Police and handed over to the Geology & Mining Department, Samba for further legal action, spokesman said.
He said Samba police has also registered 39 FIRs against house and land owners for not providing details of tenants to police during verification drive launched across the district during the year 2026.
The verification process was initiated by the Samba police for the outsiders staying as tenants and domestic helpers. During the drive, 28 cases were registered at Police Station, Bari Brahmana, eight cases were registered at Police Station, Samba and three cases were registered at Police Station, Vijaypur under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), the spokesman added.
It is pertinent to mention here that District Magistrate Samba has ordered for the mandatory police verification of the tenants. Despite these directives, the concerned house and land owners failed to comply, leading to legal action.
SSP Samba urged upon the citizens of the district to come forward and provide the complete details of their tenants/domestic helpers to their nearest Police Station and get the police verification done timely.
