Shahnawaz accorded warm reception

POONCH, Jan 15: Congress workers accorded a warm and enthusiastic welcome to newly appointed District Congress Committee (DCC) president for Poonch, Shahnawaz Choudhary at Dak Bungalow, Poonch here today.
Shahnawaz has recently been appointed as District president of Poonch through Sangathan Srijan Abhiyan by the Congress high command and entrusted with the responsibility of strengthening the party at the grassroots level inhis home district. A senior and experienced organisational leader, Choudhary was earlier serving as AICC Secretary in charge of Odisha. He has held several key positions including JKPCC vice president, general secretary and other important roles in Youth Congress and NSUI at both State and National level.
While addressing media-persons after the welcome ceremony, Shahnawaz strongly criticised the BJP for its alleged attempts to weaken the MGNREGA Scheme. He stated that the BJP is deliberately trying to undermine the rural economy by diluting the employment guarantee law and reducing allocations to this vital scheme.
Choudhary further said that the selective naming of schemes such as “VBG-RAM-G” is a political tactic aimed at polarising the masses and diverting attention from real and pressing issues faced by the common people, especially in rural and hilly areas. He emphasised that MGNREGA was a visionary initiative of Dr Manmohan Singh, Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi, aimed at empowering the rural population, with special focus on women.
Reiterating his commitment to organisational unity, Shahnawaz said that he would take everyone along to strengthen the Congress Party in Poonch. He expressed confidence that with collective efforts, the Congress Party would emerge as the number one political force in District Poonch.
