Addressing the faculty, Prof Sharma said that with the campus infrastructure now firmly established, AIIMS Jammu stands at a decisive juncture where outcomes in medical research, education and patient care must take centre stage. He stated that the groundwork has been laid and the focus must now shift to performance and impact.
Prof Sharma identified medical research as the backbone of the AIIMS system and urged faculty members to scale up collaborative research, interdisciplinary initiatives and clinical trials. He stressed that AIIMS Jammu must function in a mission mode to develop centres of excellence capable of addressing complex and unresolved medical challenges.
Highlighting the national stature of AIIMS, Prof Sharma noted that the institution enjoys unparalleled public trust, earned through decades of rigorous standards set by leaders of the medical fraternity. He cautioned that sustaining this confidence requires collective accountability, ethical conduct and consistent excellence from every faculty member.
He also called upon faculty to set clear academic and clinical goals, stating that institutional character is shaped by focused leadership and single-minded dedication. According to him, clarity of purpose not only strengthens systems but also inspires staff at all levels to contribute meaningfully to the institute’s growth.
Beyond professional responsibilities, Prof Sharma underlined the importance of personal well-being in sustaining long-term institutional excellence. He encouraged faculty to maintain a healthy work-life balance by engaging in sports, physical activities and social interactions.
Concluding his address, Prof Sharma reminded the faculty that association with AIIMS is both an honour and a responsibility. He said their conduct, in public and private life alike, must consistently reflect discipline, humility and dedication, in keeping with the values and legacy of AIIMS Jammu.
