Global recognition for Dr Romesh’s ‘Happy Schools’ in University of California

JAMMU, Jan 11: Happy Schools: Placing Happiness at the Heart of Schools, authored by Dr Romesh Kumar, has been recognised as one of the Favorite Books for Educators in 2025 by the Greater Good Science Center (GGSC), University of California, Berkeley.
The Greater Good Science Center (GGSC), UC Berkeley, is a globally respected institution advancing research-based well-being, compassion, and positive education worldwide.
Featured at the beginning of the list of selected titles, the book has been described as thought-provoking, inspirational, and practical, reflecting significant global recognition for work focused on school well-being and happiness.
Commenting on the selection, Vicki Zakrzewski, Education Director at UC Berkeley’s Greater Good Science Center, said the 2025 list highlights hopeful, research-based books that promote well-being, connection, and the everyday transformative impact of educators.
Dr. Romesh Kumar, currently Head of Department, DIET Jammu, and Divisional Nodal Officer for Counseling, Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS), has been working extensively in the field of school mental health and teacher capacity building.
