Five bovines rescued, smuggler arrested

UDHAMPUR, Jan 7: Udhampur Police foiled an attempt of bovine smuggling and rescued five bovine animals besides arresting the alleged smuggler.
Based on specific information, a police team of Police Post Roundomail intercepted a Tata Yodha bearing registration number JK02CR-7445, coming from Manwal side and moving towards Ramban/Srinagar.
During checking, five bovine animals were found cruelly and illegally loaded in the vehicle without any valid permission. Police rescued the animals and arrested driver of the vehicle, identified as Sher Ali, son of Abdul Rashid of Halka Marh, Jammu.
In this regard, FIR number 04/2026 under sections 223(a) BNS and 11 PCA Act has been registered at Police Station Udhampur.
