KATRA, Jan 6: The UGC–Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Centre (MMTTC) at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU), Katra, conducted an online refresher course on “Material Science and its Applications”.
The course was organized in recognition of material science as one of the most dynamic and impactful domains of contemporary research. The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from faculty members across the country
The refresher course focused on several key themes, including thin-film synthesis, advanced characterization techniques such as XPS, XRD, SAXS, and absorption-based methods, smart materials, biomaterials, renewable energy materials, nanomaterials, and computational approaches, along with other emerging areas in materials research.
Dr Anupam Sharma, Programme Coordinator, highlighted the significance and objectives of the refresher course. Prof Supran K Sharma, Director, UGC-MMTTC, SMVDU, provided an overview of the MMTTC initiatives at SMVDU.
Prof Sharada M Potukuchi, Deputy Director, UGC-MMTTC, SMVDU, highlighted various academic activities organized under the MMTTC banner and shared insights into future programmes.
Prof S K Wanchoo, Dean, Faculty of Sciences, presented an overview of the university and its academic programmes, emphasizing the importance of such refresher courses for faculty working in various sub-fields of material science. Dr Ram Prakash, Head, School of Physics, and Programme Co-Coordinator, provided valuable insights into the School of Physics and the advanced material characterization facilities available at SMVDU.
Vote of thanks was presented by Dr Varun Pandey.
