Shiv Sena seeks action against assailants

JAMMU, Jan 5: Three local youth were allegedly attacked by a group of unidentified persons near Rohingya immigrants-inhabited Kiryani Tallab locality here on Sunday night.
Taking cognizance of the matter, police have registered an FIR number 13/2026 under sections 115(2) (voluntarily causing hurt), 126(2) (Wrongful restraint), and 352 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace) of the BNS at Police Station Bahu Fort and started further investigation into the matter.
Police said the incident happened on Sunday night when three local youth, Shan Goswami, Vinay, and Sushant Goswami, who were on their way towards Qasim Nagar from Bathindi area, were mocked by some unidentified people near Kiryani Tallab for applying vermillion marks on their foreheads.
They said when the local youth objected, a group of unidentified persons attacked them with punches and kicks, leaving them injured.
Somehow they managed to escape and got preliminary treatment from a healthcare facility, they said.
Today, the Shiv Sena (UBT) activists gathered in the area and resorted to sloganeering, demanding stern action against the assailants.
Manish Sahni, the UT chief of the Shiv Sena (UBT), termed the incident as disturbing, claiming the Rohingya refugees settled in Jammu have started behaving like owners of the town.
He demanded that the accused be identified and brought to book.
Later, SHO concern arrived at the scene and assured the protesting Shiv Sainiks that action under law has been initiated in the matter. On this, the protest was called off.
