JAMMU, Dec 29: Gandhi Nagar Police foiled a bovine smuggling bid by rescuing seven bovines and seizing the vehicle used in the crime.
A Police team intercepted a vehicle bearing registration number JK02DH-9819 at Bikram Chowk and recovered seven bovines being illegally transported. During the checking, the accused fled the spot on noticing police presence, abandoning the vehicle.
Police have taken cognizance of the offence and initiated investigation. An FIR Number 282/2025 under Sections 223 and 299 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Section 11 of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (PCA) Act has been registered at Police Station Gandhi Nagar.
Efforts are on to identify and apprehend the accused. Further investigation is underway.
