JAMMU, Dec 27: Parkash Purab of Guru Gobind Singh Ji Maharaj was celebrated at Gurdwara Digiana Ashram Jammu under the supervision of Mahant Manjeet Singh, head priest of Dera Nangali Sahib Poonch.
A large number of devotees participated along with various Sikh organizations of J&K including Sikh United Front, Shiromani Akali Dal, BKNSS, Sikh Naujwan Sabha, local Gurdwara Committees, Members of DGPC Jammu with zeal and enthusiasm.
The Ragi Jathas including Bhai Satwant Singh Hazoori Raghi Sri Darbar Sahib Amritsar, Bhai Harbans Singh Raghi Jatha Jammu, Harbhinder Singh Incharge Sikh Mission J&K, Bhai Bachan Singh, Bhai Ranjeet Singh UP, Hazuri Ragi Digiana Ashram Jammu and Fateh Singh threw light on the life of Guru Gobind Singh Ji Maharaj.
Mahant Manjit Singh, head priest- Dera Nangali Sahib Poonch while addressing the Sangat asked the people to follow the teachings of Guru Gobind Singh Ji who sacrificed all his family to save humanity and stressed upon Sikh community to adopt the path shown by Guru Gobind Singh Ji in every field of life to become true and pure Sikh for serving the poor and needy people in the society.
The great Guru has taught us that all human beings are creation of one God so all should be treated equally irrespective of caste, color, creed, religion and region. Mahant Ji said that all parents should keep close watch on their children to save them from drugs and other evil deeds.
Former Minister Harbans Singh while addressed the gathering paid glowing tribute to Guru Gobind Singh Ji Maharaj. He recalled teachings of Great Guru and said Guru Sahib dedicated his entire life to protecting truth, justice, and human dignity, and inspired generations to stand firmly against oppression.
Mahant Manjeet Singh honoured Harbans Singh and congratulated him on his recent appointment as an advisor to NC president Dr Farooq Abdullah. He praised Harbans Singh’s dedicated public service and expressed hope that he would continue to work for the welfare of the people with the same sincerity and commitment.
Sudershan Singh Wazir, Chairman Sikh United Front spoke and threw light on the life of Guru Gobind Singh Ji Maharaj. He said Guru Gobind Singh Ji fought 21 battles and won all of them. For the sake of humankind Guru Gobind Singh sacrificed his whole family including his four sons. Wazir said Sikhs have always been on forefront whenever the country needed. He also highlighted the sacrifices made by Guru Gobind Singh for the weak and downtrodden and asked everyone to follow virtuous path shown by the Guru Gobind Singh Ji.
Other Political leaders from various parties including Raman Bhalla, working president JKPCC also greeted people on the occasion of Gurpurab.
Several other community leaders including Darbinder Singh president Shiromani Akali Dal J&K, Mohinder Singh Chief Organizer BKNSS, Rajinder Singh from SAD, Gajan Singh, Avtar Singh Member DGPC, Kulwant Singh Khajuria, Kultar Singh, Paramjeet Singh, Charanjeet singh and Surinder Singh Dutt were also present.
