RAMBAN, Dec 26: In a major step to curb the drug menace and dismantle the financial networks of narcotics traffickers, Ramban Police today attached a residential house belonging to a notorious drug peddler in the Gool area, following due legal process.
The attached property belongs to Mohd Saleem Shaan, son of Abdul Rashid Shaan, a resident of Zalas village in Gool tehsil of Ramban district. The action has been taken under Section 68-F of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act in connection with an ongoing investigation by Police Station Gool, on the directions of the competent authority.
Police said the property, valued at approximately Rs 13.64 lakh, has been identified as proceeds of crime, allegedly acquired through illegal gains from drug trafficking.
Mohd Saleem Shaan is a habitual offender and is involved in five NDPS cases registered at Police Station Gool over the years. These include FIR Numbers 50/2012, 35/2018, 74/2022, 120/2023 and 121/2023, pertaining to offences under Sections 8, 20 and 29 of the NDPS Act, involving commercial and intermediate quantities of contraband drugs.
