SRINAGAR, Dec 26: Jammu & Kashmir Bank today observed a Special “Mission YUVA Disbursal Day” across the Union Territory to fast-track implementation of the Jammu & Kashmir Government’s flagship Mission YUVA programme aimed at promoting self-employment and entrepreneurship among youth.
The special drive concluded with the symbolic pressing of a button by the Bank’s Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Amitava Chatterjee, marking the successful disbursal of 1,263 cases in a single day, surpassing the target of 1,111 cases.
The event was attended virtually by Executive Director of the Bank, Sudhir Gupta, Chief General Manager Imtiyaz Ahmad, General Managers, Divisional Heads, Zonal Heads and other senior officers. Teams from all zones participated to ensure smooth execution.
Congratulating the operational heads and frontline staff, MD & CEO Amitava Chatterjee praised their coordinated efforts in converting sanctioned cases into timely disbursements.
He said, “The successful rollout of Mission YUVA is a result of the collective commitment and coordinated efforts of all stakeholders involved, and each one of them deserves appreciation.”
He added that he was encouraged by the positive feedback from the Chief Secretary, Atal Dulloo, who is closely monitoring the programme and has expressed satisfaction with its progress.
“Mission YUVA is not merely a lending programme; it is a transformative initiative of the Government of Jammu & Kashmir to unlock the entrepreneurial potential of our youth,” Chatterjee said, reaffirming the Bank’s role as the principal banking partner.
Highlighting long-term goals, he said the initiative could become a benchmark for future employment-generation programmes at both UT and national levels.
He also noted that Mission YUVA complements the Bank’s strong focus on MSME lending, adding that J&K Bank was recently recognised as the Best MSME Bank by the Chamber of Indian Micro Small and Medium Enterprises.
Executive Director Sudhir Gupta said, “J&K Bank carries a deep socio-economic responsibility towards the people of Jammu & Kashmir, and there can be no better way to fulfil this commitment than by ensuring the success of Mission YUVA.”
He expressed confidence in achieving targets and creating lasting opportunities for youth.
Pertinently, since the launch of Mission YUVA, J&K Bank has cumulatively sanctioned around 12,800 cases.
