JAMMU, Dec 26: A delegation of the Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (ASSOCHAM), Jammu & Kashmir Council, today met Vikramjit Singh, Principal Secretary, Industries and Commerce Department, and submitted a detailed representation highlighting key issues faced by industries in the region.
The delegation was led by Manik Batra, Chairman, and Bhupesh Gupta, Co-Chairman, ASSOCHAM J&K Council, along with Amit Khajuria, Assistant Director, ASSOCHAM J&K.
Senior officials including Arun Manhas, Director, Industries and Commerce, Sudershan Kumar, Managing Director, Jammu & Kashmir Trade Promotion Organisation (JKTPO), and Pardeep Singh, Managing Director of SIDCO and SICOP, were also present during the meeting.
During the interaction, ASSOCHAM highlighted several challenges faced by industries, especially in the Jammu region.
The key demands included the introduction of a dedicated Logistics and Warehousing Policy, special financial support for MSMEs, and relief measures for industrial units affected by land allotment issues under the New Industrial Policy 2021.
The delegation also stressed the need to strengthen the startup ecosystem by providing clarity on funding, venture capital participation, and risk-sharing mechanisms.
It further requested fair consideration for earlier applicants while allotting land in upcoming industrial estates announced in the recent Budget.
Speaking on the occasion, Manik Batra said that while the New Industrial Policy has attracted investor interest, timely policy support in areas such as logistics, MSME financing, and land-related issues is essential for long-term industrial growth.
Bhupesh Gupta said that improved logistics infrastructure and targeted financial support would enhance ease of doing business and boost investor confidence in the region.
Vikramjit Singh assured the delegation that their suggestions would be examined carefully in consultation with concerned departments.
