JAMMU, Dec 23: A poetry collection of twenty Hindi poets of Jammu, titled- ‘Tawi Ki Dhara-2’, compiled and edited by Dr Chanchal Dogra and Naresh Gulati was released by Hindi Sahitya Mandal (HSM), Jammu in a function organized at KL Saigal Auditorium, Cultural Academy, Jammu, today.
Eminent Urdu Ghazal writer Pritpal Singh Betab, a retired IAS officer was the chief guest on this occasion whereas, a veteran writer Dr Ratan Lal Shaant presided over the programme. Vijay Saraf Meenaghe, a renowned painter and Hindi poet shared the dais. A large number of intellectuals, writers and artists attended the programme.
The function started with the introduction and invitation of the dignitaries by acting general secretary Manto Dutta Sharma. Formal welcome was extended by Vijay Saraf Meenaghe on behalf of Dr Chanchal Dogra, president, HSM. A paper on the content and critical evaluation of the released book ‘Tawi Ka Dhara’ was presented by Prof (Dr) Raj Kumar.
It may be mentioned that Hindi Sahitya Mandal has already published and released ‘Tawi Ki Dhara- 1 during the year. The released poetry collection has the poetry of 27 Hindi poets of Jammu, some of the residing outside the UT. The poets whose poems have been published in the book, are- Rakesh Abrol, Sanjiv Bhasin, Dr. Raj Kumar, Rajeshwar Singh Raju, Vijay Saraaf Meenaghe, Shyam Judeja, Dr. Nirmal Vinod, Naresh Khajuria, Dr Adarsh, Dr Agni Shekhar, Brij Mohan, Dr Pawan Khajuria, Rajneesh Gupta, Dr Ratan Lal Shaant, Kunwar Shakti Singh, Maharaja Krishan Santoshi, Arun Jandyal, Baldev Balneel, Sunil Sharma, Manjeet Singh Kaamra, Pyasa Anjum, Pritpal Singh Betab (all residing in Jammu), and Bhuvanpati (Virginia), Darshan Kumar Vasan (Chandigarh) and Naresh Gulati (Ahmedabad).
Hindi poets- Shyam Judeja, Sanjiv Bhasin, Rakesh Abrol and Vijay Saraaf Meenaghe presented their poems during the function.
While speaking on this occasion, Dr Ratan Lal Shant appreciated the initiatives of Hindi Sahitya Mandal organizing and conducting such nice literary events. He also appreciated the interest and enthusiasm extended by Dr Chanchal Dogra and Naresh Gulati for conducting precisely arranged literary event. He said that Hindi Punjabi, Urdu and Dogri are the major languages of the region and should be given due importance. Betab complimented HSM publishing collection of Hindi poets of Jammu in its series of book publications. He opined that such kind of books should contain the composite work of male and female poets.
