JAMMU, Dec 23: While felicitating newly appointed District president for Jammu Rural “A” Subash Chander Bhagat, the Provincial president of National Conference for Jammu Rattan Lal Gupta today asked the cadre to strengthen the party at grass-roots level.
During a function held here today, the Provincial head also honoured four newly nominated Block presidents namely— Tharu Ram for Block Nagrota, Mohd Majeed for Block Dansal, Ajay Singh for Block Mathwar and Sukhdev Singh, Block president for Bhalwal. On this occasion Babu Rampal former minister and Central Zone president, Vijay Lochan Chairman SC Cell, Tejinder Pal Singh (Aman) Provincial president Jammu YNC, Shamim Begum DDC Dansal were also present.
Addressing the gathering, Rattan Lal Gupta raised serious concern over the ongoing dual power structure in Jammu and Kashmir, stating that it is creating unnecessary hurdles in the effective functioning of governance. He said, “People are suffering due to confusion and lack of accountability.”
Gupta strongly reiterated for restoration of full statehood to Jammu and Kashmir and an end to the dual power structure, which he termed as undemocratic and detrimental to public welfare. He directed the newly nominated District president to constitute District Committee Jammu Rural “A” to strengthen the party to face forthcoming urban local body and Panchayat elections within fortnight.
Babu Rampal referred to the achievements of the Omar-led Government including free travel for women in Government-operated buses, enhancement of marriage assistance from Rs 50,000 to Rs 75,000, provision of 200 units of free electricity per month for AAY households, and doubling of the monthly free ration quota from 5 kg to 10 kg per person for AAY families, enhancement of pension of old age, widows and handicapped persons from Rs 1000 to Rs 1500, Rs 2000 (Senior Citizen) per month.
Prominent among those present on the occasion included: Bushan Lal Bhat, Rakesh Singh, Nar Singh, Nitish Gowsami, Vishal Parihar, Hameed Choudhary, Sahil Kerni, Jasin Malik, Muzamil Malik and others.
