JAMMU, Dec 22: The leaders of Jammu and Kashmir National Conference today said that the Omar Abdullah, led Government is committed to restoring the city’s prominence by developing it into a citizen-friendly urban hub and a major tourism destination in the country.
This was stated by additional General Secretary Ajay Sadhotra and provincial president Jammu, Ratan Lal Gupta.
Both the leaders were addressing a workers’ meeting in Janipur.
Earlier, party president Dr Farooq Abdullah had directed provincial unit members and office-bearers in Jammu to launch a mega outreach programme covering all 75 wards of the Jammu Municipal Corporation in preparation for the upcoming Urban Local Body (ULB) elections.
Acting on these directions, the party’s provincial leadership and office-bearers today initiated the outreach campaign to connect with people in all 75 wards, identify suitable candidates for each ward, and address other organisational matters.
The meeting was chaired by district president Jammu Chander Mohan Sharma and convened by block president West Jammu, Gurnam Singh.
Addressing the gathering, Ajay Sadhotra exhorted local unit functionaries to gear up for the elections by reaching out to every household and highlighting the Omar Abdullah, led Government’s track record of good governance.
Ratan Lal Gupta, in his address, highlighted the pro-Jammu and pro-poor initiatives undertaken by the Omar Abdullah Government.
He urged party cadres to work with dedication and discipline to strengthen Omar Abdullah’s hands.
“The National Conference stands for development with dignity. Our workers must act as a bridge between the leadership and the people to ensure that this development agenda reaches every household,” he added.
