JAMMU, Dec 22: For the first time, cases of fake UTS unreserved tickets created with the help of Artificial Intelligence (AI) have come into light in Jammu Division of the Northern Railway.
These were detected during a special drive launched in Jammu Division after a case of fake ticket created using the AI came into light in the Jaipur Division of North Western Railway.
Under this campaign, more than 2200 (UTS) unreserved tickets were checked across all railway stations in the division. Unique ID numbers and QR code scanning were used to detect fake tickets.
During this drive, four cases of fake UTS unreserved tickets created with the help of Artificial Intelligence (AI) were detected and appropriate penalties were levied.
Sharing information in this regard, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, Uchit Singhal, said: “This step has been taken to prevent digital fraud and ensure a uniform and safe travel experience for all passengers. It is also a way to curb unauthorized ticket agents from misusing this technology for their own benefit. Similar campaigns will be conducted in the division in the future as well.”
Urging railway passengers not to tamper with tickets using Artificial Intelligence (AI) or any other digital means, as this is a punishable offense, he warned that strict action will be taken against those caught. Passengers are requested to travel with valid tickets, he added.
The special campaign on fake UTS tickets was conducted from December 15th to December 21st by teams constituted by the Senior Divisional Commercial Manager at every railway station in the division.
