CHENANI, Dec 21: In a major boost to rural infrastructure and connectivity in the Chenani-Ghoordi Assembly constituency, the MLA Balwant Singh Mankotia today inaugurated the Kokeni-Pachound road.
The road is constructed under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) at an estimated cost of approximately Rs 35 crore, a flagship scheme of the Central Government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Addressing the gathering, Mankotia highlighted that under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Central Government has given special emphasis to strengthening rural road connectivity across the country, including far-flung and hilly areas of Jammu and Kashmir.
He said that the Kokeni-Pachound road is a long-pending demand of the people and its construction will significantly improve all-weather connectivity for several villages.
“Road projects like these are transforming rural infrastructure and accelerating socio-economic development by ensuring better access to education, healthcare, markets and employment opportunities,” he said and assured that the work will be executed with high quality standards and completed within the stipulated timeframe.
On the occasion, MLA Ramnagar Sunil Bhardwaj and DDC Member Pinky Devi also appreciated the efforts of the Central Government and the PMGSY scheme in bridging the urban-rural divide.
They expressed confidence that the road project will open new avenues for development, tourism, and overall growth in the region.
The local residents expressed gratitude to the Central Government, the Prime Minister and their elected representatives for addressing a long-standing demand.
