SRINAGAR, Dec 21: The first-ever food grain freight train of the Food Corporation of India (FCI) Sunday reached the Anantnag Goods Terminal, marking a major boost to food security and logistics in Kashmir.
Depot Manager FCI Kashmir, K L Mina said that the train from Punjab carried around 1,384 tonnes of food grains in 21 wagons.
He said that 21 wagons reached today and 42 will arrive soon. “1,300 matric tonnes of rice arrived today. Remaining 42 wagons will carry 2,600 MT rice, which is equivalent to 110 trucks.”
He said that earlier the supply took much more time from Punjab, now it will save time and resources, which is beneficial for the country. (KNO)
