ACB files charge sheet against former PDD meter reader for having disproportionate assets

JAMMU, Dec 18: The Jammu and Kashmir Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has filed a charge sheet in a disproportionate assets case related to a former employee of the Power Development Department (PDD).
As per an ACB official, the challan in case FIR number 01/2021, registered at Police Station ACB Central, has been presented before the court of Special Judge, Anti Corruption Jammu, under sections 5(1)(e) read with 5(2) of the J&K Prevention of Corruption Act, Svt 2006 and section 109 RPC against Surinder Singh, then meter reader, PDD (now retired), his wife Meenakshi Bandral, and son Kunal Singh, all residents of Upper Thathar, Jammu.
According to him, the case was registered following a verification by the ACB which revealed that during his posting at Gandhi Nagar, Jammu, the then meter reader allegedly accumulated movable and immovable assets worth crores of rupees in his own name and in the name of his family members, which were found to be highly disproportionate to his known sources of income.
