Martyr Naib Subedar Zubair Ahmed laid to rest with full military honours

RAJOURI, Dec 17: Naib Subedar Zubair Ahmed, a brave soldier of the Indian Army and a resident of Rethal-Chaudhary Nar village of Rajouri town, who was martyred in a powerful explosion along the Line of Control in Kupwara district of North Kashmir, was laid to rest with full military honours amid tearful scenes on Wednesday.
The martyr attained supreme sacrifice on Monday evening during duty. His family was initially informed that he had been seriously injured in the blast; however, the tragic news of his martyrdom reached them on Tuesday morning. Soon after, a large number of people from Rajouri town and adjoining villages gathered at his residence to express condolences and pay homage.
Adding to the grief, the martyr’s father had passed away exactly two years ago, and a memorial service was being observed at the family home. On Monday afternoon, Naib Subedar Zubair Ahmed had spoken to his wife and brothers, enquiring about the arrangements and guests for the memorial. He was scheduled to return home on leave in the coming days, but fate willed otherwise.
The mortal remains of the martyr reached his native village late Wednesday evening, where an atmosphere of grief and patriotism prevailed. Amid chanting of patriotic slogans, the Indian Army accorded him a guard of honour and saluted his supreme sacrifice. The emotional moment when his young son paid tribute alongside Army officers moved everyone present.
Naib Subedar Zubair Ahmed is survived by his wife and three minor children-two sons and a daughter. Heart-rending scenes were witnessed at his residence as the children, unaware of the magnitude of the loss, kept asking about their father and the gifts he had promised to bring them.
The supreme sacrifice of Naib Subedar Zubair Ahmed has left the entire region in mourning. People from all walks of life saluted the courage, dedication, and patriotism of the brave soldier who laid down his life in the service of the nation.
