JAMMU, Dec 13: Mission Statehood Jammu and Kashmir president Sunil Dimple today led a strong protest against Jal Shakti, PHE and Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) over acute scarcity of drinking water in Jammu city.
A statement said the protesters, holding empty buckets and utensils, blocked Janipur-High Court Road for nearly one hour.
Addressing the gathering, Dimple alleged that residents of several areas were facing severe water shortage while the authorities were selling drinking water tankers online.
He warned that a mass agitation would be launched if the supply was not restored within 24 hours and demanded free drinking water and free tanker supply to affected localities.
Dimple said people were roaming on roads in search of water and accused the Government of failing to improve water infrastructure.
He also claimed no officers were available in PHE offices to address grievances.
The protest was supported by Dev Raj, Vipan Gupta, Sudershan Sharma, Rakesh Sharma, Jyoti Gupta, S Bitoo Singh, Vicky Gupta, Bramu Sharma, Akbar Khan, Mohmad Shafi, Nasir, Nazier Khan and others.
