JAMMU, Dec 13: Senior National Conference leader, Bimla Luthra (Ex-MLA) today addressed a gathering of women workers, urging them to actively mobilize at the villages and Panchayats level in preparation for the forthcoming Urban Local Bodies (ULB)and Panchayat elections.
While addressing the gathering at village Salarh Kothey in Bishnah Constituency, the former MLA stressed upon the women workers of the party to gear up their activities in view of the upcoming ULB and Panchayat polls.
Luthra criticized the BJP for failing to deliver relief and welfare to the people of Jammu and Kashmir. She said that the BJP’s policies have brought hardship to common people, especially women and the marginalized sections of society.
Highlighting the initiatives of the Omar Abdullah-led National Conference Government, Luthra said that several people-friendly schemes were launched with special focus on women. These include education relief, old-age pension, widow pension, and other social welfare measures aimed at strengthening economic and social security.
Former MLA emphasized that the National Conference has always believed in delivering development at the grassroots level. She urged women workers to become active in their respective villages and Panchayats to spread awareness about the party’s policies and achievements, and to strengthen the organization ahead of the elections.
She reaffirmed that the National Conference remains committed to empowering women and ensuring inclusive development across Jammu and Kashmir.
The meeting was organized by Bharati Sharma. Among those who were present in the meeting included- Joginder Kour District president Jammu Urban Women Wing, Sapna Gill- Block president Jammu East Women Wing, Baljeet Kour, Rajni and others.
